Cecelia Palladino-Jaramillo
started dancing at age 5. She studied
locally
at Fishback Studio & at Suzanne's School of Ballet. She continued
her
dance studies at the University of Utah where she majored in Musical
Theater
with a Ballet Emphasis. Cecelia is trained in Classical and Cecchetti
Ballet,
Jazz, Tap, Character Dance, and Mime. Her ballet training has been
with
Ballet West, Bill Martin-Viscount, Leo Ahonen & Soili Arvola, Eugene
Tanner,
Suzanne
Johnston among others. She advanced her jazz training from Gus Giordano,
Luigi,
Joe
Tremaine, Helene Phillips, Eddie Garcia, Keith Clifton and the Edge Dance
Studio in
Los
Angeles. Her tap training was furthered through Tony Coppola, Jim Taylor,
Bril Barrett,
Gregg
Russell, Pat Rico, and Joel Ruminer. She received Character and Mime training
at the
University
of Utah and studied character with Yurek Lazowski.
Cecelia's
extended education includes Chicago National Dance Masters Association,
Professional
Dance Teacher's Association, National Dance Educators Organization, Texas
Association
of Dance Teachers, Cecchetti Council of American Seminars, Tremaine
Conventions,
and Dance Educators Association.
Cecelia
has performed with the Albuquerque Ballet Company, University of Utah Ballet
Ensemble,
New Mexico Ballet Company under Suzanne Johnston,ACLOA/MTS (since 1968),
Carlaw
Productions in "On The Town", and the Paramount Pictures promo for "Stayin'
Alive".
Cecelia
has choreographed for the New Mexico Ballet Company under Suzanne Johnston,
including
The Laurel Tree, and Summerscene. She has worked on over 30 shows
for
ACLOA/MTS
including Cabaret, Kiss Me Kate, Chicago, 7 Brides for 7 Brothers, Singin'
in
the
Rain, and Funny Girl. Cecelia has choreographed for the Albuquerque
Garden Show,
Paramount
Pictures promo for Grease 2, Carlaw Productions (George M), as well as
Energy
in
Motion Performances since 1992 along with a Muscular Dystrophy Benefit.
Cecelia's
teaching experience includes Fishback Studio (1967-1972), The Music Studio
in
Salt
Lake City, Utah (1972-1973), Suzanne School of Ballet (1972-1986), Albuquerque
Ballet
Company (1986), and presently with La Mesa Dance Academy (1987-present)
Cecelia
received the 2003 National Dance Educators Organization award for years
of
meritorious
service to dance education in New Mexico and was a Bravo Award Nominee
in
2004
and 2005.
Cecelia
created the Energy in Motion Performance Company in 1992 to give young
preformers
stage
experience as well as the opportunity to demonstrate their talents.
Energy in Motion
presents
an annual Winter Show along with a Spring Show every two years. Energy
in Motion
members
also give lecture demonstrations at schools in Albuquerque and the surrounding
areas.
The
proceeds from their performances provide scholarships for members to attend
dance
seminars
and auditions for professional companies. Energy in Motion has also
donated some
of
their proceeds to St. Jude's Hospital.
